DIY Wipe Solution

If you’re cloth diapering, you may already be using cloth wipes or you may be new to the idea. Cloth wipes will save you money and save our landfills from being polluted with disposable wipes.

There are several different options for cloth wipes…

You can buy cloth wipes from companies such as CC Bums (pictured left) that work fabulously. They also come in a variety of sweet patterns!

You can also use baby washcloths, pieces of flannel, or even cut up squares of a t-shirt if you want to be more thrifty.

Plastic wipes containers work just as well for cloth wipes, but you can use any waterproof container that liquid solution won’t leak through. See my post on the Hide-a-wipe for very cute DIY container.

To make your own wipe solution, you need:

Aapproximately 1/2 cup of water

3-4 drops of tea tree oil for antibacterial properties.

(This is for an ordinary plastic wipe container… you can tweak the recipe to fit the size of your container, but DON’T use a lot of tea tree oil. It only takes a few drops.)

You can add vitamin E oil or jojoba oil for moisturizing properties.

*In a pinch, you can just use cloth and water. I prefer the antibacterial properties of tea tree oil and it can be added to a spray bottle for on the go easy application.
