I received some of my favorite products from Sarah and wanted to share these with you all! I’m so excited! It’s early Christmas at my house! If you do yoga or pilates or even use a workout mat at all, this product is a MUST! Do you go to the gym and use one of their mats? Have you ever thought about the last sweaty person who crunching away exact spot you’re laying yourself against? One word: ewe.

Sarah’s Be Clean Yoga Mat Spray is the answer! It’s small enough to carry with you and easy enough to use at the gym. If you have a home gym like we do,  it’s safe enough to use at home and I don’t worry about it damaging our equipment. Yoga and pilates are something I do regularly so this spray was such a welcome treat! I prefer using it to my regular cleaning supplies. It doesn’t take as long to dry and it smells so relaxing!

Be Clean Yoga Mat Spray is an all-purpose spray that can be used on a wide range of surfaces including yoga blocks, yoga mats, counter tops, and sinks. It can also be used in the laundry, clothes and bedding between washes, on shoes, as an air disenfectant and can be used to wash fresh produced.  Ingredients are 100% non toxic and natural. Ingredients: Spring water, grapefruit seed extract, sweet orange and lavender and melaleuca essential oils. 

I am most excited about my new tea ball! I had one that I used every day and I have not been able to locate it recently. I started using a small strainer instead, but I really prefer the tea ball because it seeps to the bottom of the tea mug. This was my first time trying the Triple Mint tea which I find to be a rejuvenating morning blend. It would also be great if you had a cold and wanted to open your chest. If you like mint, this is the ultimate tasty blend! I also have a new stick of my favorite lip balm, Citrus Mint! If you are a lip balm/chapstick user like I am, you’ve got to try this Citrus Mint. It’s nongreasy, lasts a long time, and has a wonderful flavor.

I also received a couple Lavender Sachets. These are great for throwing in the dryer, hanging in the car for some natural scent, clothes drawers, suitcases, and more – anywhere you want some extra fragrance! Love these!

Altered Nations

I couldn’t have been more flattered to here that Susan of Altered Nations wanted to work with Journey to “Green!” I received this amazing handmade creation – a skirt and a dress in ONE! The poor camera resolution didn’t capture the true vibrancy of color on this piece. When I first viewed it on the model it looked like geometric shapes which I thought was a lot of fun. I received it and found find that it’s actually a suitcase/briefcase detail on the front. So cool! It’s got a modern flair with vintage colors. It is soooo fun! It was at an amazing price as well! At $15.00 for a convertible outfit this is more than reasonable. This would be a perfect piece to take on a vacation. I wore it as a dress and paired it with a wide belt for detail. This would make a great lightweight summer dress or a cute Fall ensemble with a cardigan and some boots. I can’t wait to wear it on our next movie date.

Grab Green

Grab Green is taking on the natural cleaning world and NOT looking back! In my opinion, they have nothing to worry about! I received several products to try so take a look throughout to see what I thought.

I used the All Purpose Cleaner on some RIT dye residue and it actually lightened up the stain.

I also had the pleasure of trying the Dish Soap:

I loved that it suds so well with such a little amount. It left the no residue and wasn’t harsh on my hands at all.

After much deliberation between the dish soap and the degreaser, I finally decided that the degreaser is my favorite product! I actually prefer this to the all-purpose cleaner as well! It cut through stuck on powders and flours, hot chocolate, stuck on food, soap scum, and much more! I have my cleaning scheduled per day and today I went crazy cleaning everything! I was so excited about how much less I had to scrub with this stuff!

B's Laundry

I find that despite my best efforts, I still end up washing B’s clothing every 2-3 days with spills and allergies. I also received a couple of the 3-in-1 laundry detergent tablets to wash with so we tested these out today. They worked well and cleaned the tough carrot stains nicely! I prefer detergent in packet form because they’re easy to just throw in the wash with no measuring involved.

I want to remind everyone that while I tested the fragrance free products, Grab Green does have tangerine and lemongrass as well as thyme with figleaf scents. I would love to try the lavender vanilla and tangerine myself!

Something I also loved about these products were the spray bottles. They give a wide, powerful spray so you don’t have to squirt as many times as you would with a small stream bottle. (I hate that!) The prices of these products are really reasonable! A box of tabs are actually cheaper than some of the brands that are not eco-friendly. $5.00 for degreaser is a steal! I’m really excited to find that it’s comparable – and even more affordable – than other eco-friendly brands because let’s face it: we can all stand to save money!

Before I became a mother, I didn’t give much thought to the kinds of cleaning products I used in my home. My laundry detergent left my clothes clean and fresh-smelling, and that was all I really cared about. But after my two daughters came along, I learned about the toxic and irritating chemicals in most commercially available laundry products and I decided that if I couldn’t buy the safe products I wanted to use on my children’s clothing, I would have to make them myself.

After a lot of research and experimentation, a few major logistical hurdles and delaying the project for a few years, I decided to dive in headfirst and contacted all the organic chemists I could find who might be able to help me. Suzy Dishsoap

The Suzy dishsoap was not very sudsy. The smell was great, but the water was murky and the dishes a little cloudy once dried.

The "Phil" toilet bowl cleaner

This toilet bowl cleaner works WONDERFULLY! It smells great – a little like lavender – and it suds and shined well. It worked like I would’ve expected the dish soap to work, honestly.

"Matt" Carpet Deodorizer

The deodorizer is made with baking soda and looked like baking soda when sprinkled on the carpet. It had a hint of smell, but didn’t leave any smell before or after vacuuming it up. It didn’t seem to have much effect at all on my carpets. Personally, I will stick with baking soda.

The Emma laundry soap smelled great and got my clothes clean and the Bill all-purpose cleaner got countertops cleaned quickly.

I did enjoy their all-purpose cleaners and love the choice of scents with essential oils. There were no harsh smells or after fumes. The products are also really reasonably priced!

Green Tease: Review and Giveaway

I’ve got another one-of-a-kind piece to share with you by Green Tease! If you loved her last giveaway of the off-the-shoulder top, I think you will LOVE this one! Keep reading for more!

I have loved working with Cari so much. She really is one of the most incredible designers that I have met (well, talked to any ways). She creates these amazing ooak upcycled pieces for women that are so comfortable AND fashionable. In my opinion, that’s the perfect combination. Now that I’m a mom, I’m all about comfort. It’s nice when you can still feel sexy and comfortable.

I saw this shirt and it was love at first sight! NOTE: Please take this shirt for sarcasm and not as an offense. I saw it, and  I thought that it was not only trendy, but pretty funny. I consider myself to be artistic, and I don’t by any means, think that to be an artist, you are wasting your life. I believe that to be able to pursue ones passion in life is the greatest way to spend it and if you are lucky enough to make a livelihood as an artist, I envy you.

That being said, I am so excited I’ve been able to review this! It is as amazing on as it looked on the mannequin!  I love the off-the-shoulder look. I love everything about this top. Now, I will admit, that I would wear a tank under this top if I was actually going out. The back is really sexy, but a bit too revealing for me as is. A black racerback tank adds the edge that I want!

Upcycle Baby

I’m crazy about upcycled clothing! It’s cute, it’s one-of-a-kind and it’s eco-friendly! Upcycling means there’s less fabric being tossed into landfills and less toxins being used to produce manufactured nonorganic fabrics. When I saw Upcycle Baby clothing, I was dying to review and promote this company!

Kelsey made this special Kimono Hoodie for B that I love! It’s cute, comfortable, and the peace sign on the back is such a groovy detail. Her sizes run a bit larger than typical. This, for instance, was a 12-18 months, but probably fits more like a 2T. It’s perfect for me because it’ll keep him warm through the winter and hopefully beyond! It washed well and is very high quality!

I am an art teacher, a crafter, and a mom of two little girls…so little in fact that I had to take up sewing in order for them to have clothes that fit. Fed up with having to constantly “take in” every pair of pants that my daughter owned, I turned to the web figuring there must be something online that would show me how to make a simple pair of pants to fit my daughter.  Apparently all I needed was a sewing machine and an old t-shirt. It just so happens that my husband’s closet is overflowing with t-shirts so I picked one with a fun color and a cool logo and that began my new passion- upcycling.  I love knowing that each piece of clothing I create means one less t-shirt will end up in a landfill and that no additional textiles had to be manufactured which saves our precious resources. History

We created this site in response to our own search for earth-friendly products.  Like you, we want to buy products that are better for our families and our planet.  As we have discovered however, finding green products and understanding what if anything makes them green can be challenging and time consuming.

We believe that there is a better way to buy green products.  At Go Green Items, we want to provide the best possible buying experience by offering a wide range of products, the tools you need to understand why a product qualifies as ‘green’, and superior customer service.  Our goal is for Go Green Items to be your primary destination for green products, services, and green living information.

 

How Green Are We

At Go Green Items, we are dedicated to developing a sustainable business.  In every aspect of our operations, from product shipment to office supplies, we look to reduce waste, conserve energy, and minimize use of resources.  After reducing our carbon footprint as much as possible through these efforts, we purchase carbon offsets to reach our goal of a zero waste footprint.

•  Our website is hosted by Volusion, which is actively doing their part to assist the environment by joining CarbonFund.org to fight against global climate change
•   We do not use a fax machine to reduce paper and electric use
•  We work out of our homes to reduce travel and additional electricity
•  We utilize our great product The Cool N Save to reduce our air condition usage
•  We utilize The Chili Pepper another great product we sell to increase the speed of generating hot water
• We practice recycling to the fullest extent
• Any displays used for our shows are hand made from bamboo from our backyard
• We purchase carbon offsets from www.CarbonFund.org
• Marketing materials are digitally printed on 100% recycled paper
• Invoices are primarily emailed and if printed they are printed on 100%
• recycled paper
• We constantly are building our partnerships with other eco friendly businesses
• to spread awareness

Pros: this bag is nearly 100% recycled, the price is comparable to a noneco-friendly bag you can buy at department stores, and it’s small and compact for times when you want a smaller purse.

Cons: The strap didn’t stay on my shoulder well and it’s shorter than I would want a bag to fit across the body which would be the easier way to carry it.

 

This coin purse is the perfect way to carry change! I’m always digging for quarters for meters in the car or change to for a car wash, etc. I can load this with quarters and stick it in my glovebox for those times when I need change in a pinch! I can even drop $20 and my id in it to make a spontaneous trip to the store without lugging my whole purse.
